Avolon’s Strategic Expansion
Leading global aviation finance company, Avolon, plans an incremental order to increase its 737 MAX backlog to more than 110 unfilled orders. This initiative is part of Avolon’s strategic effort to expand its 737 MAX portfolio, which includes the 737-8 and 737-10 variants, affirming its commitment to modernizing and enhancing its fleet with more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft.
Boeing’s Growing Partnership with Avolon
Boeing and Avolon have announced that the Ireland-based lessor intends to purchase 40 more 737-8 airplanes, taking a significant step towards expanding Avolon’s portfolio. This move is indicative of Avolon’s ongoing support for the 737 MAX platform, evidencing a strong partnership that has seen Avolon deliver the 1000th 737 MAX produced and the first 737 MAX in 2017. Avolon’s CEO, Andy Cronin, emphasizes the order’s role in bolstering the company’s outlook for the aviation sector and its capability to meet customer needs with delivery slots extending to 2030.
Enhanced Efficiency and Environmental Commitment
The 737 MAX series is celebrated for providing greater flexibility across networks while markedly reducing fuel use and emissions—by up to 20%. Each airplane in this series is expected to save up to 8 million pounds of CO2 annually, compared to the airplanes they replace, aligning with Avolon’s commitment to transforming its fleet towards lower emissions. Boeing’s senior vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing, Brad McMullen, acknowledges the strong demand for travel and the readiness to support lessors like Avolon in enhancing their single-aisle portfolios with these fuel-efficient jets.
