Enhancing Slovenia’s Defence and Rescue Capabilities

Leonardo has proudly delivered the first of two C-27J Next Generation aircraft to the Slovenian Ministry of Defence, marking a significant milestone under the Italy-Slovenia Government-to-Government (G2G) Agreement inked on 17 November 2021. This state-of-the-art aircraft is outfitted with cutting-edge avionics, including a glass cockpit featuring five multifunction colour screens, tactical transport mission radar, comprehensive communication systems, satellite connectivity, ballistic protection, and winglets for enhanced aerodynamic efficiency.

As part of the bilateral G2G Agreement, Leonardo, in collaboration with the Air Armaments and Airworthiness Directorate of the Secretariat General of Defence / National Armaments Directorate, has executed two contracts over the past two years. Each contract encompasses the provision of one aircraft, along with extensive logistics and training services. The Slovenian Ministry of Defence‘s selection of the C-27J aligns perfectly with its diverse operational requirements, including transport, international operations support, and vital national services such as rescue, disaster relief, and firefighting.

The C-27J’s deployment in Slovenia is notably geared towards revolutionizing fire-fighting efforts, equipped with the latest MAFFS II (Modular Airborne Fire-Fighting System) from United Aeronautical Corporation, the forefront innovator in aerial fire-fighting technologies.
