Advanced Testing and Delivery

OWEGO, N.Y., Feb. 7, 2024 – Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, (NYSE: LMT) has proudly announced the completion of comprehensive testing for the integrated mission systems and sensors on three MH-60R SEAHAWK® helicopters. These advanced aircraft are now ready for transfer to the U.S. Navy, setting the stage for their subsequent delivery to Greece in 2024. This significant milestone underscores Sikorsky’s commitment to enhancing maritime security capabilities through cutting-edge technology.

Enhanced Operational Capability and Global Partnerships

The rigorous testing, concluded in early December 2023, has confirmed that each MH-60R aircraft is a highly efficient and effective air weapon system, adept at executing both anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare missions from land bases or naval ships. “Commonality of these Hellenic Navy MH-60R SEAHAWK aircraft with 330 MH-60R and 250 MH-60S SEAHAWK aircraft, and with the global BLACK HAWK helicopter fleet, enables Sikorsky and the U.S. Navy to continue sustaining and upgrading this proven weapon system for maximum threat deterrence and operational capability,” stated Sikorsky President Paul Lemmo. Notably, Greece is the seventh nation to integrate the U.S. Navy’s MH-60R maritime helicopter into its fleet, joining other European countries such as Denmark, Spain, and Norway in enhancing their naval capabilities.

Arrival in Greece

The first batch of three MH-60R aircraft is scheduled to arrive in Greece in 2024, transported by U.S. Navy aircraft. An additional four helicopters are expected in 2025, completing the Hellenic Navy’s acquisition of seven state-of-the-art aircraft. These MH-60R helicopters, also known as Aegean Hawks, will join the existing fleet of 11 S-70B SEAHAWK aircraft at the Kotroni Naval Air Station, further bolstering Greece’s maritime defense posture.
